We initially bought a reasonably pricey plastic kitchen for our 2.5 year old kitchen-crazy boy and it was so flimsy it easily tipped over and I thought he would break it by accident. Needless to say, we returned it as soon as we could. We then did some research and decided on this one. Any of the other Kidkraft kitchens would be just as good, I just preferred the look of this one (not as much pink as the ‘Large Wood Kitchen’ with the pink fridge and freezer). The one we bought also had a blue fridge and freezer.
In the other reviews of Kidkraft kitchens on amazon and other websites, I read that a lot of customers were impressed with the build quality. As soon as I opened the box, I was impressed that the company had not skimped on the protective packaging that covered every wood part of the kitchen. It was so tightly packed, that we took photos of each layer we unpacked (in case we had to return it for some reason). Both I and my father (who used to be a carpenter & joiner) thought that it looked like it was made in a kitchen factory:just as sturdy. As soon as the kitchen was put together, the two boys next door (8.5 years and almost 4 years old) came over to play. The kitchen wasn’t too small for the older boy, and it also wasn’t too small for the three of them to play together.
A lot of thought was put into the design:
1) All the realistic fixtures in the dishwasher (racks for plates etc, container for cutlery and “knobs” for cups etc to hang on)
2) The sink is a decent, functional size and depth (approz 7.5 cm deep), a detail we thought was important, it wasn’t there just so it could be listed as a product feature.
3) All of the external screws (on front of doors etc) were powdercoated to match the colour of the surface they would be on e.g blue fridge had blue powdercoated screws, and nearly every screw or bolt is flush.
4) The kitchen is very sturdy, and precision manufactured – while it does take a long time (1.5 hours) to put together, the instructions are simple and clear – there was no confusion during the assembly.
5) The materials used (bolts, screws etc) are solid and good quality, with the heads powder coated as metioned previously.
I could go on for hours with my praise for this kitchen. It is durable and sturdy enough that it will definitely be staying in our family for years, maybe even pass it on to our grandkids. It is so much fun to play with. My wife (who is a teacher) loves the fact that it doesn’t make any noises, but the children have to use their imagination. Every area of the kitchen is generously sized. One thing that could be better is if the fridge had one more shelf: it seems like there is a bit of wasted space in there, especially with the small size of pretend food.
If you can afford the investment, it is well and truly worth every cent. When we compare the price and quality to the first kitchen we bought, this kitchen is far, far superior value. Check out the other reviews of Kidkraft kitchens on the ‘net to see what other customers are saying.

There are 7 grandchildren in the family ranging in age from 12 years to 11 months. This one belongs to my daughter and was her Christmas gift last year. This wonderful kitchen set came with a 24-pc dish set (4 each bowls, cups, plates, and utensils) and reasonably understandable instructions for assembly. I did the traditional overnight assembly and had time for a nap before the big morning. The only problem I had was with the faucet – I had to re-glue the dowel that holds it in. I do suggest that you somehow force someone to help you – you can both get more sleep! Anyway, it’s a total winner. She uses the oven and dishwasher to store her larger dishes, the nice little stainless steel pots and pans that are available fit nicely, the fridge has a shelf, the dishwasher rack is a hoot (and put together very well), this is a really nice unit! The 11-month-old is the most damaging – banging and slamming doors, but this kitchen looks great after a year of hard play! It’s well-built, you can use wood glue when assembling to make sure it stays together if your kids are rougher than mine… I can’t say enough good about this cute little kitchen!

First thing I would like to state is that putting it together was easy. The instructions were well written. Again easy, but you have to make sure you get it right the first time as there are NO extra pieces(screws, bolts, etc.).
Kids, 1 and 3, woke up christmas morning and had the biggest smiles on their faces and had to make them realize there were other gifts near the tree.
Almost a month now and no complaints. Just make sure you take the time to assemble.

The Kidkraft Ultimate Kitchen has been a big hit with my daughter. She has spent endless hours playing by herself cooking and cleaning. It would have been great if this kitchen could have some with SOME dishes and utensils to get started.

We first purchased a plastic kitchen from Toys-R-Us that was terrible. It was flimsy and badly put together. We took it back and decided to get this one for our 1 1/2 year old daughter for Christmas. It is wonderful, very sturdy, and has more than enough storage space for her food and dishes. The dishwasher is a great addition and the slide out tray is a lot of fun. Our Daughter loves it and so does the 3 year old boy I keep. They have hours of fun. It was well worth the mere $15.00 more we paid for it. It does take a lot of time to put together but the instructions are well written and easy to follow. Everything you need for assembly is included, all you need is a screw driver and you are good to go. Great Kitchen, Highly Recommended!
